An interviewer once asked Mother Teresa how she could hope to be effective when faced with the overwhelming misery of those whom she cared for. She replied, “I’m not here to be effective. I’m here to be faithful.” Mother Teresa had a transcendent mission and working with the destitute poor was the container for her practice.
In a similar way, enso practice is a container. One could say, “I’m not here to make art, I am here to be mindful," or "I am not here to draw the enso, I am here to relax and experience the peace of my true nature."
